$400 Million in Additional U.S. Military Assistance for Ukraine
The United States continues to support Ukrainewith additional military assistance to helpdefend itself, including from the Kremlin'srelentless attacks onUkraine'scritical energy infrastructure.
Pursuant to a delegation of authority from the President, today I am authorizing our twenty-sixthdrawdown of U.S. arms and equipment for Ukraine since August 2021.This $400million drawdown includes additional arms, munitions, andair defenseequipment from U.S. Department of Defense inventories. This drawdown will bring the total U.S. military assistance for Ukraine to an unprecedented level ofapproximately$19.7 billion, since the beginning of theAdministration.
The United States will continue to stand with more than40 allies and partners in support of the people of Ukraine as they defend their freedom and independence with extraordinary courage and boundless determination. Theartilleryammunition, precision fires, airdefense missiles, andtacticalvehiclesthatwe are providingwillbest serve Ukraine on the battlefield. We are joinedin our efforts by France and the UK,including the50 millionin air defense systems offeredbyUK Prime Minister Sunakduringhis recent visit to Kyiv, andwe noteSweden's recent air defense commitment valued at nearly $300 million.
We will continue to support Ukrainefor as long as it takes,so it cancontinue todefend itself and be in the strongest possible position at the negotiating table when the time comes.
